About this blog

Welcome to my design blog focusing on the area of Visual Communication called Data Visualisation. Data Visualisation is the visualisation of data where data is presented through the use of graphs, charts and maps in order to make the information to be easily understood being in a graphical form as opposed to data sets. Data Visualisation allows for people to make comparisons between data to detect patterns and trends in the data easily and allows the audience to understand the story and what the data is telling in order to make conclusions. This blog will look into detail in what Data Visualisation is, the different ways to visualise data appropriately, the different data types and the application of design principles in Data Visualisation.

The blog will consists of weekly posts that consist of information from weekly lectures explaining key topics in data visualisation. The Blog will record my progress throughout the semester through activities and work that I have completed throughout the semester. I will will be reflecting on what I have learned at different stages of the semester and my understanding of data visualisation as I progress through the Data Visualisation course. The goal at the end of the course is to have developed to skills and knowledge to be able to create successful and engaging Data Visualisations.
