About Me

I am a second University student currently studying a Bachelor of Design (Visual Communication) at Western Sydney University. I have always had an interest in design from a very young age where I grew up with a passion for visual arts and have a strong illustrative background. Throughout high school I chose to study visual arts and Design an Technology from year 9 – 12 due to my creative interests and took on these courses to become more creatively and technically skilled. Throughout my life and throughout university it has always been my interest to further my strengths, learn new things and constantly improve. I enjoy learning new software and opening myself up to new forms of media whether it be print or digital. So as a design student working towards becoming a designer it is important that I always look for ways to improve and challenge myself in order to become a successful designer in the future.

I aspire to create Data Visualisations that communicate information that is compelling that tells a clear story about the data through the use of clear, simple and engaging graphics. I believe that it is important to capture the attention of the audience to a visualisation within the first few seconds of seeing the work. The use typography, colour, layout and attractive titles are important in gaining an audience in order for them to go into detail to understand the story being told through the visualisation. Like other forms of visual communication, successful communication through data visualisation requires aesthetic design and it is important to me that ensure that is clear in Data visualisation similarly to other areas of visual communication.
